Data policy
CiteCanon stores enough account, research, citation, and export metadata to operate the free beta, preserve audit trails, and improve reliability. We do not sell user data.
Authentication is handled through Clerk. CiteCanon may store your user id, email, display name, and basic workspace settings so authenticated product surfaces can work.
Research sessions, retrieved source chunks, citation verification results, blocked-citation events, and export metadata may be retained so users can audit what was checked.
Generated export artifacts may be stored in object storage with source links and citation metadata. Export storage is intended for product functionality, not public publishing.
If analytics are enabled, CiteCanon records product events such as research completion, source coverage status, citation verification, and exports. These events should not include secrets or client-confidential facts.
The beta should be used carefully with confidential or privileged material. Avoid pasting secrets unless you are comfortable with the current beta storage and processing model.
